A Successful “Renewal” for GMHC

The annual GMHC Spring Gala held on March 23, 2015 in New York City was a night to remember. This event, for the first time jointly produced by GMHC and MZA, culminated in a fine dinner shared by even finer guests, 390 of whom, in their most stunning attire, packed the elegant ballroom of Cipriani’s. New approaches to organizing the Gala gave rise to improved revenue and cost efficiency.
A theme of “Renewal” was reflected in a powerful program that included GMHC’s CEO, Kelsey Louie (pictured below at left), and GMHC’s co-founder, Larry Kramer (pictured below at right). Mr. Kramer, one of the night’s Honorees left the crowd with this rallying statement: “The battle cry now must be one word – cure, cure, cure!”
In addition, Myron Sulzberger “Mickey” Rolfe and Delta Air Lines were recognized as Honorees for their outstanding contributions to the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Other special guests included television and Broadway star Jonathan Groff, actor Joe Mantello, and singer Raul Esparza, as well as famed U.S. Supreme Court same-sex marriage plaintiff, Edie Windsor, and her extraordinary lead counsel, Roberta Kaplan.
Overall, the Gala raised $525,000 in support of GMHC’s vital work.
